It's home to the Mosuo, an ethnic matriarchal tribe. The subject is a Mosuo boat rower enjoying a smoke while waiting for his next ride. Each boat ride is physically demanding, as the boats are hand-rowed and the total distance spans just over a kilometer. We soaked in the festival atmosphere while waiting for the fireworks to start, and feeling the chill, went straight for hot food. What intrigued me most, though, was the long queue for Gelato. Very cold temperatures, and people were still happily lining up for ice cream — now thats a sight. What struck me most about the whole evening was the atmosphere. Hundreds of people gathered in the dark, yet it was completely calm — everyone quietly enjoying their snacks, then tilting their heads skyward in collective appreciation of the fireworks above. '유키무시'라고 하는 지독한 벌레를 만나 꽤 고생하기도 했고, 완벽하게 세팅하고 촬영한 장면이 아니기 때문에 다소 어지럽기도 하지만, 마음의 일렁거림이 제법 담겨졌다고 생각해 좋아하는 사진입니다. This is probably the autumn scenery we’ll soon encounter. I didn’t particularly like autumn, but as I’ve accumulated memories of enjoying the scenery and spending time with people I cherish, I’ve grown to love it. I took this photo when I traveled alone to Hokkaido, and I felt a sense of "An Enchanted Realm," which inspired me to name it "Holgyeong (惚境)." I had quite a hard time dealing with a pesky insect called "Yukimushi," and since the scene wasn’t perfectly set up for the shoot, it might seem a bit chaotic.
