          <title><![CDATA[I’ve always been interested in pushing the vertical format on social media — seeing how much story I could fit into a small rectangle.  Around 2019, I started blending different images together, mostly out of instinct. I wasn’t trying to say anything specific. I was just experimenting, chasing energy, and making work that felt exciting.  When I looked at this image, it made me remember a version of myself I hadn’t thought about in a while.  Someone younger, reckless with energy, shooting almost every other weekend, posting constantly, chasing progress and social credit without questioning it.  This image feels like those two versions existing at the same time. Not a before and after, but an overlap. Even after walking for so many days, the Warkari still had so much energy left to play these traditional games. I saw them starting to form these human pyramids and circles, and I knew I had to get a different view. I actually sat down on the ground and leaned back to shoot from a very low angle. I wanted to show how they look up at each other and support one another. You can see the mud and sweat on their faces, but more than that, you just see how happy they are to be together in that moment. | msquare more]]></title>

Amid the sea of people, the towering idol of Ganesha rises above the crowd, carried on countless shoulders that move together with devotion and love.  For days, Lord Ganesha is welcomed into homes and hearts as a symbol of hope, protection, and new beginnings. But this moment captures the most emotional chapter of the celebration—the farewell. As the idol moves toward the sea for immersion, the joy of celebration blends with the quiet sadness of letting go.  The raised hands, the colored smoke, and the intense energy of the crowd reflect something deeper than a festival. They reveal a powerful bond between faith and people. In this moment, thousands of voices chant together, not just to celebrate, but to express gratitude.  This photograph freezes a fleeting yet powerful emotion—the instant when devotion becomes both a celebration and a goodbye. For the 2026 Marina Bay Countdown, I stood at the Helix Bridge watching the sky erupt, but I chose to look for the life hidden within the light.  This vertical poster, "Is this a Phoenix?", is a symmetrical re-imagining of that first midnight of 2026. By mirroring the vibrant rainbow fireworks and stacking the architectural icons of Singapore, a mythical silhouette emerged from the data. To some, it is the 'Sovereign Butterfly'—a regal symbol of grace and the quiet metamorphosis into a new and beautiful life. To others, it is a Phoenix rising, fueled by the explosive energy of the city’s celebration.  I chose this title to invite the community to engage with the 'soul' of the image. Whether you see the delicate wings of a butterfly or the fiery ascent of a phoenix, the essence remains the same: a powerful, vertical rise into a new chapter. This piece marks the beginning of a year where we define our own rebirth, spreading our wings over the foundations of the past to soar into a vibrant 2026. | Victor Zhuo]]></title>

During winter, the landscape transforms into a quiet monochrome world where layers of mountains, forests, and snow shape the atmosphere of the village.  Rather than focusing on dramatic moments, the work observes stillness and atmosphere. The village appears small against the surrounding mountains, while a lone hut in the foreground anchors the scene within the vast winter landscape. Snow softens the terrain and simplifies the forms, allowing the quiet character of the place to emerge.  As someone who primarily photographs street and documentary work, where moments unfold quickly and unpredictably, standing in this winter landscape was a very different experience.           <title><![CDATA[This photograph was made in Shirakawa-go, a small mountain village in Japan known for its traditional gassho-style houses. During winter, the landscape transforms into a quiet monochrome world where layers of mountains, forests, and snow shape the atmosphere of the village.  Rather than focusing on dramatic moments, the work observes stillness and atmosphere. The village appears small against the surrounding mountains, while a lone hut in the foreground anchors the scene within the vast winter landscape. Snow softens the terrain and simplifies the forms, allowing the quiet character of the place to emerge.  As someone who primarily photographs street and documentary work, where moments unfold quickly and unpredictably, standing in this winter landscape was a very different experience.
