But the street has a way of interrupting. In the foreground, an auto-rickshaw driver had dropped his pants, re-tucking his shirt. A gesture of professional pride performed with total indifference to the public eye. While one half of the street is conscious of how they are seen, the other is simply existing in the thick of a long workday. Over the 15 years I spent living next to her we chatted & exchanged views on all sorts - politics, jokes & inevitably, sometimes the weather. Her stories about previous generations of people who lived on our road were fascinating - the lady who lived in the house before her said that, during the war, a bomb dropped in our garden! Sarah used to be part of the Portobello arts scene in the 60's, so understands creative expression. When I suggested a photoshoot she was very much up for it. She was the matriarch of the family of all our families on our road. We were very lucky to see this. We were done for safaris on the day - we were changing Hotels and moving from one Serengeti National Park to Ngoro Ngoro Crater. All my camera gear was packed up and we had a few hours of driving ahead of us. But we were still driving through the Serengeti - suddenly our driver spotted this Lion and Lioness together, and we stopped to watch. I quickly prepared my camera Gear and was happy to have captured this image. Just a quick background of what is happening - After mating, the Lioness is very angry and the Lion obviously looks scared !! Quick information for those who are interested - Serengeti is the largest National park in Tanzania and Ngoro Ngoro is a UNESCO World Heritage Site - it is the worlds largest Caldera ( Volcanic Crater) - it is about 19km in diameter and has an area of 260sq km - it was formed by a huge volcanic eruption 2.5million years ago.
