A New Era Unveiled: Full-Frame Mirrorless “Leica SL3” | Leica Camera

Leica Camera Japan has announced the full-frame mirrorless system camera, the “Leica SL3.” The official release date is March 16, 2024, with a retail price of 1,100,000 JPY (tax included).

The manufacturer’s mission, “Own the Moment,” is at the heart of the Leica SL3. As a source of inspiration and a trusted partner in visual storytelling, the SL3 elevates visual expression to the realm of art.

Embodying the “Made in Germany” hallmark, the SL3 seamlessly integrates cutting-edge technology with user-friendly design, reflecting over 150 years of Leica’s tradition and exceptional craftsmanship. Its design enriches the creative process, allowing photographers to fully immerse themselves in their creative journey.

The Leica SL3 features a 60-megapixel 35mm full-frame BSI CMOS image sensor with advanced triple-resolution technology, catering to a wide range of photographic scenarios.

It incorporates Leica’s proprietary autofocus system, which integrates three detection methods for rapid and precise focusing. Despite its compact form, the camera boasts in-body image stabilization, IP54-rated dust and splash resistance, and 8K video recording capabilities—delivering high performance and portability in one sophisticated package.

Photographic works by Daisuke Abe, captured with the Leica SL3, are currently on view in the exhibition “shape” at Leica Gallery Tokyo and Kyoto. Here we present selected works that showcase the allure of the Leica SL3.
