Their hulls are worn, tires hang along their sides, and traces of years of work remain everywhere. Yet they are also part of the landscape I have known for a long time. In Busan, the sea is never simply scenery. Ships arrive and leave. Cargo moves. Engines run. People work somewhere beyond what most visitors notice. And beside all of that, the city continues with its apartments, roads, shops, and ordinary lives. That was what made me stop and take this photograph. For a moment, the old harbor and the modern city seemed to occupy the same frame — two different worlds that have always belonged to the same place.
