This photograph captures a quiet moment of solitude. A young boy sits beneath a tree, absorbed in his own small world while the surrounding environment fades into shadow. The image explores the contrast between stillness and the larger world around him, highlighting how simple moments can carry deep meaning. The photograph was created using natural light to emphasise the mood and intimacy of the scene. By using black and white, the focus shifts from colour to emotion, allowing the viewer to reflect on the subject’s quiet concentration and the calm atmosphere of the setting. Through this work, I aim to present an honest and timeless moment of everyday life. It invites viewers to pause and reflect on the quiet spaces that exist within our busy world. | Akshob Ram Kumar

During my time in Japan, I often photographed people on the street using slow shutter speeds. One evening, just before the end of the workday, I encountered an office worker standing at a crosswalk, momentarily lost in thought. Through the use of a slow shutter, the atmosphere of his working life was gently softened, rendered a little lighter, and less heavy than it might have felt in reality. | shotbyje9_3

During my time in Japan, I often photographed people on the street using slow shutter speeds. One evening, just before the end of the workday, I encountered an office worker standing at a crosswalk, momentarily lost in thought. Through the use of a slow shutter, the atmosphere of his working life was gently softened, rendered a little lighter, and less heavy than it might have felt in reality. | shotbyje9_3

Lisbon, Portugal (July 2025) - First stop of my (almost) solo Portugal-Spain trip. I decided that for this trip, I will play with film simulations using Veres Deni Alex' recipes for Sony to maximise the European summer sun. I took this photo while waiting for my tram back to the city centre. I remember it was scorching hot, but I liked how the sun shone on the store and the facilities around it and how it still represents Lisbon, trams aside. | _jotriessomething

This picture was taken using Kodak Aerofilm on Yashika Electro 35. Aerofilm is a medium- and high-altitude aviation reconnaissance film with a film with a lot of red sticking out. Therefore, I tried to maximize the red color by taking a red apricot with this film. The apricot flower is said to be the first flower to bloom in spring through winter. Therefore, the apricot flower symbolizes incision and noble mind. I thought that the red apricot flower turns red in winter by bleeding from the bitter wind as the white petals of the existing apricot flower bloom. I thought that the red apricot flower was a difficult blooming and extracting red beauty. Even if you look at the red color of the red apricot flower and feel tired and painful now, it would be good to know that the blood you shed now makes you look the most beautiful | umani

This photograph represents more than just a single moment, it’s a reflection of my entire practice. Whether I’ve been traveling for studies, work, or just for fun, I’ve always walked around cities to experience it and took pictures of things that caught my eye. Over time, I realized that photography was helping me understand places and people better. I stopped using maps and started letting my intuition guide me through unknown corners and alleys. Now, it has reached a point where I don’t have to think - it’s just therapeutic. When I need to shut the noise off, I walk and I take photos. | Shikhar Bafna

This photograph captures a quiet moment of solitude beneath a tree. A young boy sits absorbed in his own world, momentarily separated from the noise and movement of everyday life around him. The scene reflects the small spaces of stillness that exist even within busy environments. Using black and white allows the image to focus on mood, light, and emotion rather than colour. The contrast between shadow and light highlights the boy’s concentration while the surrounding darkness frames the moment, creating a sense of calm and introspection. Through this work, I aim to show how simple, ordinary moments can carry quiet depth. The photograph invites viewers to pause and reflect on the unnoticed moments of stillness that often exist in our everyday lives. | Akshob Ram Kumar

What remains in this image is not a pose, but the most honest moment I saw of him. I have always felt that he is a unique person. Perhaps shaped by certain experiences, there is a quiet loneliness in his eyes whenever we talk. Even when he says “it’s fine” or “it doesn’t matter,” that gaze never truly disappears. This photograph focuses on his eyes — the moment I realized that although we were traveling together, the loneliness was still there. Unique people often walk alone, yet continue to survive gently in this world. This work is dedicated to everyone who feels lonely, but keeps moving forward, including myself. | Erica_林瑋瑜

I was drawn to the realm of infrared photography for the way it plays with light and colour beyond what we can visibly see day to day — like uncovering a hidden layer of the world, almost painterly at times. This image was shot at the newly built Jurong Lake Gardens, on the bridge facing towards Cascade Pavilion. Using a full-spectrum converted NEX-6 with a 16mm F2.8 prime lens and an 850nm filter, the result is a high-contrast sky with glowing foliage while the dark roof of the pavilion grounds the composition. Coincidentally, two ladies in dresses happened to be walking through, appearing bright white in the shot and naturally drawing the eye to the centre. The pavilion opening also frames them from within, almost like a screen inside the image. Going forward, I'm still exploring how full-spectrum photography can be used to reframe familiar spaces — not just in black and white, as I've also worked in other colour spectrums — making the everyday feel strangely unfamiliar. | Iak Gnix
