An unforgettable place I visited was Alhambra, one of the oldest and best-preserved palaces during the Arab rule in Spain. I was in awe of the architecture -- from its intricate details to the way the sunlight naturally illuminated the spaces. I found myself slowing down, wandering through the grounds, and really taking in both the history and the atmosphere. A friend strongly recommended me to go on a day trip here (and Toledo) as it's one of the most important remnants of the Romans in Spain. This moment was capture during the Yi Peng and Loy krathong festival held in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Yi Peng features the sky lantern while Loy Krathong involve floating of a basket or vessel. Yi Peng is originated from Lanna culture in northern Thailand. It means the second full moon of lanna calender month, is a religious event that people put up the lanterns to show devotion to Buddha, to worship the god in the high heaven. It is believed that lantern will carry away all the unfortunate things and making ways for good luck and bright future. People also putting the krathong to show gratefulness to the goddess of water, letting go of anger and bad luck you have been holding in the past and welcoming the good fortune that’s free of negativity in the coming year. I was just walking around and happen to saw this young gentleman chilling, who seemed to be reflecting on his life. I thought the tree and the castle behind were complementary features to the picture at such a perfect angle to where he is seated, hence I took this shot! A vision of this image would be that, in life, as we grow older and our pace of life gets faster where we face multiple life stages (from finishing our education, to getting an occupation, settling our future homes), there are so many seasons in our life such that there will be ups and downs. The dried autumn tree has its leaves shed, but the leaves will grow back again. This represents that even when we get lost in the midst of living, it's okay to face setbacks and have your leaves all shedded off. However, you will bounce up from your obstacles and grow out of them, which represents the leaves growing once again. This reflects your personal growth. The castle represents a Home, where despite whatever challenges you face in your life, there will be a Home for you. That can be your inner self love, your family who will love and support you, your close friends who you confide in or anyone you know you can return to peacefully, safe and sound amidst life's chaos and obstacles.
