Die Höhle dort ist nicht vollständig geschlossen — von oben fällt Licht hinein und erzeugt eine fast sakrale Atmosphäre. Während sich um uns herum unzählige Menschen in Szene setzten, posierten und versuchten, den perfekten Instagram-Moment einzufangen, fiel mir eine kleine Reisegruppe aus Indien auf. Wir waren ihnen an diesem Tag bereits mehrfach begegnet. Immer wieder ließ man sich gegenseitig den Vortritt, begegnete sich mit Respekt und Ruhe — eine angenehme Ausnahme zwischen all den Menschen, die sich sonst eher drängelnd durch die Sehenswürdigkeiten bewegten. Als ich die Gruppe schließlich in der Höhle sah, wusste ich instinktiv, dass ich warten musste. Mein Reisepartner Kevin war bereits fertig, aber ich bat ihn, draußen zu warten. Ich hatte dieses Bild bereits vor Augen, noch bevor es überhaupt entstanden war. Als die Frauen schließlich an der richtigen Stelle standen, bestätigte sich genau dieses Gefühl. Sie posierten nicht laut oder selbstinszeniert. Stattdessen bewegten sie sich mit einer stillen Zurückhaltung durch den Raum — schüchtern lächelnd, respektvoll und voller Hingabe gegenüber diesem Ort. Genau diesen Moment wollte ich festhalten. Meine Linse verstärkte dabei die Dunkelheit der Höhle stärker, als sie tatsächlich war. In der Nachbearbeitung habe ich diesen Eindruck bewusst weitergeführt und den Hintergrund nahezu vollständig schwarz gesetzt. Dadurch richtet sich der Blick ganz auf die Menschen, das Licht und die Stimmung dieses Augenblicks.
