Coincidentally, a human mother is captured in the background tending to her daughter's hair—a fleeting moment where she mirrors the macaque, highlighting the universality of parental instincts. I headed up to a place with a view of a crossing outside Shinjuku station. Everything fell in place, the lighting, her monochromatic dressing that matched the light & shadow and the painted white stripes on the floor.
