What drew me to this festival was not just the explosion of turmeric in the air, but the faith behind it. Thousands of devotees gather, chanting and covering everything in yellow as a symbol of devotion, hope, and gratitude for a good agricultural season. At the heart of the festival sits Sri Keloba Rajabau Waghmode, lovingly called the “Old Man,” under a banyan tree. People throw haldi over him and seek his blessings. He is believed to be a messenger of God, someone who predicts rain, farming conditions, and the community’s future. Through my photographs, I wanted to capture more than color I wanted to show belief, tradition, and the emotional connection between people and ritual. One challenge was working in dense turmeric clouds, protecting my gear while staying present in the moment. Through this series, I hope to draw attention back to these artisans who have spent decades honing their skill. The visual approach focuses on raw, intimate details—the worn textures of an ageing tailoring shop, the quiet stillness of the space, and the lines etched on her face. These elements are not signs of decline, but of experience, resilience, and mastery. Every crease and surface tells a story of time, patience, and dedication to a craft that once held greater prominence. As society shifts toward technology and more “advanced” professions, traditional trades like tailoring risk being forgotten. This project is an attempt to pause, observe, and appreciate the hands that continue to create, repair, and sustain. Growing up in poverty,
she had to help with farming from a very young age.
Years of hard labor and heavy housework
have left marks on her hands that time cannot erase. But to me, these are the hands I am deeply grateful for—
the hands that held me
and protected me as I grew up. Through this image,
I hope more people can see the strength, history,
and quiet magnificence these hands carry. これは、母の手と、母の好きな花です。 母はいつも、自分の手は醜いと言います。
貧しい家庭に育ち、
幼い頃から農作業を手伝ってきました。
長年の労働と家事によって、
その手には消えることのない歳月の跡が刻まれています。 けれど私にとって、この手は

この手に刻まれた力強い歴史と、
