Small working boats are tied together on the water, while bridges, apartments, and buildings rise behind them. The city seems to continue growing upward, but down here, close to the water, another part of the city moves at a very different pace. These boats are not here to be beautiful. Their hulls are worn, tires hang along their sides, and traces of years of work remain everywhere. Yet they are also part of the landscape I have known for a long time. In Busan, the sea is never simply scenery. Ships arrive and leave. Cargo moves. Engines run. People work somewhere beyond what most visitors notice. And beside all of that, the city continues with its apartments, roads, shops, and ordinary lives. That was what made me stop and take this photograph. For a moment, the old harbor and the modern city seemed to occupy the same frame — two different worlds that have always belonged to the same place. Perhaps someday these boats, buildings, or even this view will disappear. But that afternoon, they were still here. Only a narrow opening remains, and through it the late afternoon light reaches the water. The city beyond is still visible, but for a moment it feels distant. Buildings, roads, and the harbor seem to disappear behind the dark structure above, leaving only the movement of the sea and the reflection of the sun. The water never stays still. Each wave catches the light for a second, then loses it again. Perhaps that is what made this scene feel different from the rest of the harbor. Nothing here was waiting to be photographed. The bridge remained where it was, the tide continued to move, and the sun was already on its way down. I simply happened to be there when the light found its way underneath.
