It was a day at the lake with Princess Ivy — the air soft, the trees standing tall, and love quietly holding our hands together. We were in that effortless space where happiness feels natural, where being in love blends seamlessly with the joy of being around a laughing child. Even after walking for so many days, the Warkari still had so much energy left to play these traditional games. I saw them starting to form these human pyramids and circles, and I knew I had to get a different view. I actually sat down on the ground and leaned back to shoot from a very low angle. I wanted to show how they look up at each other and support one another.
I took this photo in Wakhari right after the Ringan Sohala was over. Even after walking for so many days, the Warkaris still had so much energy left to play these traditional games. I saw them starting to form these human pyramids and circles, and I knew I had to get a different view. I actually sat down on the ground and leaned back to shoot from a very low angle. I wanted to show how they look up at each other and support one another. You can see the mud and sweat on their faces, but more than that, you just see how happy they are to be together in that moment. | msquare more

For thirteen years, photography has taught me to slow down and notice the quiet poetry of everyday life. I am drawn to ordinary people doing ordinary things—walking, waiting, working, resting. Moments that often pass unnoticed, yet through the lens these fleeting fragments become something extraordinary. On Charles Bridge in Prague, during golden hour, a street artist sketches the portrait of a passing tourist while the world moves around them. In a scene filled with faces, the only one we do not see is the artist’s—hidden as he brings another’s likeness to life. For me, this simple moment reflects the heart of my photography: finding wonder in the ordinary and meaning in moments we often tend to miss in our everday lives. | Trishita Bhattacharya

Project Kolkata serves women who are currently or formerly in the sex trade. Project Kolkata partners local NGOs to conduct health screenings and health education for these women and their children. Human trafficking remains a significant problem in India. West Bengal, where Kolkata is the capital and largest city of, ranks consistently at the top of states with the highest number of human trafficking incidents and resulting crime rates. Most of the victims are women and children, transported through the state’s borders of Nepal and Bangladesh, to be recruited into the sex trade. Many of the women who are actively in the sex trade came to our health screening wearing masks. Their faces are not shown in the photographs. | DrChuaYang

This is one of 21 photos from an amazing failed adventure in the Lake District with my two best friends. Final year of university. Three best friends. No car, no plan, and jackets that lied about being waterproof. The goal? Reach the lake at Lake District National Park. The reality? The best failed attempt. We rented a tiny cabin on the park’s edge and set off like adventurers… who forgot to read the instructions. We marched through sideways rain, squelchy grass, and somehow… a factory? We climbed hills, jumped questionable fences, greeted sheep like old friends, and pretended we knew where we were going. We never made it to the lake. But we did soak our “waterproof” jackets, barbecue in the rain, and laugh until our faces hurt. Sometimes the best trips aren’t about the destination. They’re about soaking wet socks, smoke in your eyes, and that moment when everyone’s laughing too hard to keep walking. I love my friends any trip with them will always be memorable! | Patrick Carlo Bangit

This portrait is a part of series of photographs that I shot while on an assignment for the ‘Chinar Corps’. Our itinerary included a village in the deeper ends of Kashmir. I was drawn to the daily life of the locals, how they travelled across the village and beyond, and their seemingly vanishing connectivity to the outside world. Among the many faces that I saw, this gentleman drew my attention. His quiet demeanor and slow movements welcomed me to look at the daily life of his village through his eyes. There was something about his presence, warm and welcoming, yet deeply reserved. In my attempts to not be overbearing, I was able to break through and had the longest conversation with him and I forgot about trying to find other villagers. I have no regrets about it as his point of view stayed with me and I plan to take it with me. It was his matured yet innocent expression that stayed with me. He had forgotten to smile in all his years of living in the village. Whenever I shoot portraits, I try to lighten the moment to make sure I get the most authentic expression from the subject. But with him, it felt like I would lie to the world if I did that. It, perhaps seemed unnecessary. His face carried a calm intrigue, still, composed, and full of unspoken stories. Reality of portraits is subtler yet stronger than performance, it seemed. | Yash Rane
