He must intriguing who I was. Barely seen asian in middle of Kenya, and who has a machine gun type camera in his hand and walking with bunch of group of white people. I must be so strange to his eye. He must want to know more about me. He kept fallow me until I finally stop by one of host. I was looking around and here he is. I finally have eye contacted with him, and my finger couldn't resist not to do. My finger start to push shutter and got his eye. The eyes with curious and wondering. I had long admired Utsavi’s music, so having the opportunity to collaborate with her was something I felt deeply grateful for. More importantly, this experience helped me overcome a quiet anxiety I had developed about photographing people in public spaces. This moment was capture during the Yi Peng and Loy krathong festival held in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Yi Peng features the sky lantern while Loy Krathong involve floating of a basket or vessel. Yi Peng is originated from Lanna culture in northern Thailand. It means the second full moon of lanna calender month, is a religious event that people put up the lanterns to show devotion to Buddha, to worship the god in the high heaven. It is believed that lantern will carry away all the unfortunate things and making ways for good luck and bright future. People also putting the krathong to show gratefulness to the goddess of water, letting go of anger and bad luck you have been holding in the past and welcoming the good fortune that’s free of negativity in the coming year. I was in the jungles of India and travelling in an open top jeep as usual. On a small bumpy road we saw a deer running and jumping across the road about 5 yards in front of us. We kept driving and suddenly we see that a Tiger was chasing the Deer and as our jeep reached that point - the Tiger was in his stride to jump across the road in an attempt to catch the deer. The Tiger stopped as soon as he saw our jeep in his path. If we were even half a second late - the TIger may not have been able to stop and likely would have leapt - probably landing in our jeep. He stopped in time - he sat and stared at us for a while and then walked away from the jeep. We waited in the area - and the Tiger also staye din the vicinity - sitting for a bit and then walking around. I was just walking around and happen to saw this young gentleman chilling, who seemed to be reflecting on his life. I thought the tree and the castle behind were complementary features to the picture at such a perfect angle to where he is seated, hence I took this shot! A vision of this image would be that, in life, as we grow older and our pace of life gets faster where we face multiple life stages (from finishing our education, to getting an occupation, settling our future homes), there are so many seasons in our life such that there will be ups and downs. The dried autumn tree has its leaves shed, but the leaves will grow back again. This represents that even when we get lost in the midst of living, it's okay to face setbacks and have your leaves all shedded off. However, you will bounce up from your obstacles and grow out of them, which represents the leaves growing once again. This reflects your personal growth. The castle represents a Home, where despite whatever challenges you face in your life, there will be a Home for you. I was with my friend walking around the area and I happened to see this lovely couple having their pre-wedding photoshoot right in front of the water fountain at the venue. I realised I had another angle that's a bit closer to the couple than what the photographer intended, and I decided to take my shot! I love seeing wedding photography / videography, as somebody who did wedding videography before. My vision for this photo is, well, I hope everyone in their lives, be it single or attached or married, I hope that you (as the black shirt man) remember to love yourself while loving your inner child / your partner / your spouse (as the woman in the wedding dress). The shadows of the Woman's feet being lifted up by the man represents that, everyone regardless of their marital status, should have love in their life where they can overcome any obstacles together and be happy / contented with oneself (be it alone or as a nucleus). The natural Rainbow formed behind them was such a magnificent feature to be present in their photo. I hope everyone can remember that there are different colours to defining love and our feelings, because love is never a fixed shade or colour.
