The west coast used to be always overcast— a dull grey sky, rusted warehouses, and faint memories cast in shadow. Back in high school, I never really liked this place. Now it’s been redeveloped—cleaner, brighter. And even though none of the old signs remain, I find myself lifting my camera every time I return. The breeze feels softer now. Calmer, somehow more forgiving. Shot with the Nikon Zf. It wasn’t just the landscape that changed.
As a vegan, finding satisfying, decadent, luxurious desserts is really hard. After a full week of work, sport, and house chores, I find incredible happiness in going for a solo exploration of the vegan pastry shops in town. At the counter, I take my time to decide on the dessert that matches my day vibes. Then, when it arrives, I savor every little piece with wonder: what are the ingredients of the sponge, which spices were used, and how is the custard made? I feel lucky and happy to be able to eat a delicious treat that is good for me and for the planet, without hurting the animals. When it is time to leave the shop, I feel recharged with positive vibes, grateful, and ready to take on what the next week has in store for me. Lately, I took the time to freeze these happy moments in time with my film camera.
This is a photo I took in December 2025 while visiting my parents back home in Dubai. One of my favorite things to do whenever I’m there is to photograph the older side of the city, the one I was born and raised in. When people think of Dubai, they often picture skyscrapers and luxury, but there’s so much more to the city beyond that image. This photo shows an abra which is a small wooden boat used to ferry people across the creek. It’s a simple, everyday mode of transport that many people don’t discover until they experience the city firsthand. For me, it’s a reminder of the quieter, timeless side of Dubai that still lives alongside the modern skyline. | Gautami Golani

This is a photo of my old neighbour, Sarah. Over the 15 years I spent living next to her we chatted & exchanged views on all sorts - politics, jokes & inevitably, sometimes the weather. Her stories about previous generations of people who lived on our road were fascinating - the lady who lived in the house before her said that, during the war, a bomb dropped in our garden! Sarah used to be part of the Portobello arts scene in the 60's, so understands creative expression. When I suggested a photoshoot she was very much up for it. She was the matriarch of the family of all our families on our road. She's still there, sharing stories & being interested in everyone & everything. | AlwaysSnapping

This photograph represents more than just a single moment, it’s a reflection of my entire practice. Whether I’ve been traveling for studies, work, or just for fun, I’ve always walked around cities to experience it and took pictures of things that caught my eye. Over time, I realized that photography was helping me understand places and people better. I stopped using maps and started letting my intuition guide me through unknown corners and alleys. For this specific photo, we were shuffling around on the opposite side of Shinjuku talking and laughing until we stumbled across this building. On closer inspection, it reveals a pair of Himalayan Vultures crossing paths in mid-air. Captured in Singapore on 5 January 2026, this moment is especially rare: Himalayan Vultures are vagrants to the region and are typically sighted only in late December and early January. This image remains special to me as it reflects aspects of minimalism, precise timing, and use of space to convey the majestic presence and elegance of the Himalayan Vultures in flight. | Zhi Heng

This photo was taken last year during the Chinese New Year period, where I stumbled upon this monastery nearby where I live. As I explored the place, I started taking notice of this one elderly lady circling this large structure by herself as she recites her prayer and holds onto her incense. What drew me to this scene was how shooting through the plastic cover (used to shelter the place) helps blur the colours and detail of the structure behind her and silhouette the woman even more, which helps really translate the feeling of serene isolation I wanted to capture. To me, street photography has always been about having the sense to capture the scenes in the everyday that might've otherwise gone unnoticed, but the ability to further express the emotional depth within a particular moment on top of authenticity is what has led me to start adopting abstract elements in my photography. | a.da.md
