The bat hovered briefly, sniffing the sweet aroma, then settled upside-down beneath a perfect fig. With surprising delicacy, it tore into the soft fruit, savoring each bite. Juice glistened on its fur as seeds scattered to the ground—future fig trees planted by accident .
