photo poster project | Beyond Social Media, Photography Becomes a "Conversation" by acer | ISSUE #183

The is an exhibition series organized by cizucu and held worldwide. By simply submitting your photographs to cizucu, you can participate in the photo poster project exhibition and connect with fellow photographers you have yet to meet.

This time, we spoke with acer, a creator who participated in the photo poster project.

Please introduce yourself!

My name is acer. I photograph a variety of subjects—animals, landscapes, food—without limiting myself to any particular theme, capturing whatever I find inspiring. My work often features a subdued brightness and a tranquil atmosphere.

I have many interests, but I am especially fond of birds. Whenever I have free time, I go out searching for them to photograph. Among birds, I am particularly drawn to herons, and I often find myself photographing the grey herons and little egrets that live in my neighborhood.

What inspired you to participate?

I decided to participate in the photo poster project because I wanted to experience having my photographs viewed in person.

Until now, most opportunities for others to see my work have been through Instagram. While I appreciate receiving likes and comments on social media, it doesn’t allow me to truly perceive the “voices” or “expressions” of those viewing my photographs.

I wanted to directly experience the reactions of people viewing my work, so I felt this was a great opportunity and decided to take part.

How was your experience participating?

Since I had never taken part in a photography exhibition before, I felt a bit anxious until I arrived at the exhibition space.

However, the cizucu staff and other participants who had joined previous editions were very welcoming, and I enjoyed engaging in conversation and listening to each creator’s gallery talk. Surrounded by people who share a passion for photography, the conversations flowed naturally, making for a truly fulfilling experience.

I also participated in the exhibition setup, and as I was putting up posters, I found it really enjoyable to imagine what kind of person had taken each photograph.

Why did you choose that particular photograph?

Since I am especially fond of herons, I chose this photograph for my first participation in the photo poster project as a way to introduce myself. I felt that the best way to convey what I love is to show a photograph of something I am passionate about.

Exhibited Artwork

Among the many heron photographs I have taken, I am particularly fond of this one for the balance between the grey heron standing by the river and the sunlight streaming in. It is one of my favorite vertical compositions.

For those considering joining the photo poster project

The photo poster project is filled with positive energy, offering the chance to have your work seen, to view the work of fellow participants, and to connect with others who love photography. It is a truly wonderful and enjoyable experience.

Beyond just being enjoyable, I also felt that my motivation to create photographs increased compared to before participating. Seeing works I would never have thought of myself, and hearing the stories behind them, made me want to go out and shoot even more (laughs)!

It’s an exhibition that will deepen your passion for what you love, so whether you’re a first-timer or a returning participant, I highly encourage you to join.
