Please introduce yourself!

My name is Keisuke Kikuchi.
I live in Tokyo and mainly photograph wild birds in Tokyo, Saitama, and Chiba. I work as a company employee, and on my days off, I go out early in the morning to take photos. Most of my photography takes place in parks in Tokyo. I hope to share with everyone the kinds of bird photos that can be taken even in Tokyo.

What inspired you to participate?

The first time I participated was because I received a message on Instagram. I never imagined that someone would invite me, an ordinary working adult who takes photos as a hobby, to join a photo exhibition.

I wondered if it was okay for someone like me, who only takes photos as a hobby, to participate in a photo exhibition. I had those worries, but at the time, I was feeling a bit bored with just posting photos on social media every day. I wanted something new and exciting for my hobby, and I thought this was a great opportunity, so I decided to participate.

Have you experienced any changes after participating multiple times?

I’ve become more focused on taking each shot with greater care. Among the photos I’ve seen during my participation, I was particularly drawn to portraits and candid snapshots of people. These genres were completely unrelated to me, but each photo was truly remarkable. The way they highlighted the subject through the background, composition, lighting, and retouching was all very educational.

Since I photograph wildlife, it’s often difficult to control the background or lighting as I’d like. However, I’ve started to think about how to make the subject stand out more and create works that leave a lasting impression on viewers.

What do you find most appealing about the photo poster project?

The biggest appeal is being able to meet and talk directly with other creators. It’s completely different from posting photos on social media and receiving likes or comments.

In an offline setting, you can learn about the deeper aspects of the photos, hear directly about the creators’ thoughts on their work, and understand their mindset during the shoot. This is a unique charm that only offline interactions can offer.

For those considering participating in the photo poster project

If you’ve learned about the and feel even slightly interested, why not give it a try?
When I first participated, I was nervous about what to talk about with people I was meeting for the first time and whether I could explain my work well. However, as soon as I entered the venue, the staff warmly welcomed me, and the time spent talking with other creators was incredibly enjoyable and meaningful. I decided right then that I would definitely participate again.

Now, I aim to participate once a month. The various works I encounter there are truly amazing, and they inspire me and boost my motivation for photography every time I participate.
If you’re hesitant, I encourage you to participate at least once. If you find it enjoyable, consider joining again. A wonderful space awaits you.
