The , organized by cizucu since the end of last year, allows participants to join a photo poster exhibition simply by submitting their photos to cizucu. It’s also a great opportunity to meet new photographer friends.

This time, we spoke with Haruki, a creator who has participated in the twice in the past.

Please Introduce Yourself!

Hello, my name is Haruki, and I’m a photographer based in Sapporo. I don’t set specific themes for my work; I simply capture moments that make me think, “Oh, this feels nice.”

I usually use a film camera, and I enjoy the thrill of not knowing how the photos will turn out until they’re developed. I’ve also fallen in love with the unique colors that only film can produce, which digital cameras can’t replicate.

What Inspired You to Participate?

I’ve participated in photo exhibitions several times before, but this was my first time having my work turned into posters. I thought it was a great opportunity, so I decided to apply.

The camera I use was passed down to me by my grandfather, but I never got the chance to show him the photos I’ve taken. Turning them into posters felt like a way to create a gift for him, which was one of the reasons I decided to participate.

Have You Experienced Any Changes After Participating Multiple Times?

To be honest, I was feeling a bit stuck and had been taking fewer photos.

However, participating in the allowed me to receive warm feedback on my work, which made me realize, “I really do love film photography,” and encouraged me to keep going.

What Do You Find Most Appealing About the photo poster project?

The biggest appeal is being able to “hear and share the stories behind the creations” directly. Seeing the works again with this context often makes them feel different and even more captivating.

Additionally, it’s wonderful to be able to turn meaningful photos into posters and display them.

A Message for Those Considering Joining the photo poster project

This is a truly wonderful event where you can deeply engage with the exhibited works.
The excitement of seeing how your photo turns out as a poster is one of the highlights of this project.

The event is also designed to make it easy for participants to communicate with each other, so even first-timers can feel at ease and enjoy themselves. Please consider exhibiting your favorite photo. I look forward to the day we might meet!
