          <title><![CDATA[I’ve always been interested in pushing the vertical format on social media — seeing how much story I could fit into a small rectangle.  Around 2019, I started blending different images together, mostly out of instinct. I wasn’t trying to say anything specific. I was just experimenting, chasing energy, and making work that felt exciting.  When I looked at this image, it made me remember a version of myself I hadn’t thought about in a while.  Someone younger, reckless with energy, shooting almost every other weekend, posting constantly, chasing progress and social credit without questioning it.  This image feels like those two versions existing at the same time. Not a before and after, but an overlap.  It made me wonder if we forget how foolishly passionate we once were about the things we’re still doing every day. | Don Lim]]></title>

          <title><![CDATA[This photograph created in 2021 is from a series of self-portraits called 'A study in Self' which has been ongoing since a few years. Around 2016-17, I found myself to be going through a serious mental health crisis, navigating through depression, anxiety and being diagnosed with OCD because of some resurfaced childhood trauma. Soon enough I had to be admitted to a rehabilitation center and put on medicines to recover, and couldn't really see myself living my life beyond my early 20s. As I was homebound during these phases, Self-portraiture came to me as a way of trying to find stillness and meaning within all the chaos of my life through these years. It became a means of reconnecting with myself and my body and mind. It was kind of a reassurance of my existence when I felt that I had lost myself. One such photograph among many self-portraits is this one, which was viscerally and spontaneously created depicting the stillness and serenity that I deeply craved inside. | Surabhi Manisha]]></title>

          <title><![CDATA[This portrait is a part of series of photographs that I shot while on an assignment for the ‘Chinar Corps’.  Our itinerary included a village in the deeper ends of Kashmir. I was drawn to the daily life of the locals, how they travelled across the village and beyond, and their seemingly vanishing connectivity to the outside world.   Among the many faces that I saw, this gentleman drew my attention. His quiet demeanor and slow movements welcomed me to look at the daily life of his village through his eyes. There was something about his presence, warm and welcoming, yet deeply reserved. In my attempts to not be overbearing, I was able to break through and had the longest conversation with him and I forgot about trying to find other villagers. I have no regrets about it as his point of view stayed with me and I plan to take it with me.  It was his matured yet innocent expression that stayed with me. He had forgotten to smile in all his years of living in the village. Whenever I shoot portraits, I try to lighten the moment to make sure I get the most authentic expression from the subject. But with him, it felt like I would lie to the world if I did that. It, perhaps seemed unnecessary.  His face carried a calm intrigue, still, composed, and full of unspoken stories. In my attempts to not be overbearing, I was able to break through and had the longest conversation with him and I forgot about trying to find other villagers. I have no regrets about it as his point of view stayed with me and I plan to take it with me.  It was his matured yet innocent expression that stayed with me. He had forgotten to smile in all his years of living in the village. Whenever I shoot portraits, I try to lighten the moment to make sure I get the most authentic expression from the subject. But with him, it felt like I would lie to the world if I did that. It, perhaps seemed unnecessary.  His face carried a calm intrigue, still, composed, and full of unspoken stories.
