I took this photo in Wakhari pandharpur right after the Ringan Sohala was over. Even after walking for so many days, the Warkari still had so much energy left to play these traditional games. I saw them starting to form these human pyramids and circles, and I knew I had to get a different view. I actually sat down on the ground and leaned back to shoot from a very low angle. I wanted to show how they look up at each other and support one another. You can see the mud and sweat on their faces, but more than that, you just see how happy they are to be together in that moment. | msquare more

Capturing this moment during the Raulane festival was a race against the clock. The narrow, sloping lanes were crowded with people, making it difficult to find a clear spot to stand. As the procession moved quickly downhill, I had only a split second to frame the shot through my viewfinder. The central figure, wearing a traditional mask and a crown of bright pom-poms, is the heart of the image. Surrounded by local women in their signature Himachali caps, the scene shows the living history of the mountains. This photo isn't just about a festival; it’s about the luck and timing required to catch a sacred tradition in motion, right in the middle of a busy, cramped street. | shantanu sarwade

Captured at the Gomti Ghat beside the Dwarkadhish Temple in Dwarka, Gujarat, this photograph documents a quiet yet powerful moment of devotion during the early golden hour. Amidst a crowded morning of ritual bathing, I focused on a woman from the Mer (Maher) community, whose traditional tattoos function as permanent jewellery, a cultural identity inscribed onto skin. Her gold-plated Vedhla earrings and red tie-dyed saree reflect a living heritage that continues to exist within contemporary India. I intentionally chose a frame that conceals her face. The absence of identity shifts attention toward texture, tradition, light, and ritual rather than individuality. The golden sunlight interacting with wet skin and tribal markings transforms a simple act of prayer into a timeless visual narrative. This work explores themes of cultural continuity, dignity, and the coexistence of tradition within modern spaces. | Ek Cheeze Dikhau

This photograph was made in Shirakawa-go, a small mountain village in Japan known for its traditional gassho-style houses. During winter, the landscape transforms into a quiet monochrome world where layers of mountains, forests, and snow shape the atmosphere of the village. Rather than focusing on dramatic moments, the work observes stillness and atmosphere. The village appears small against the surrounding mountains, while a lone hut in the foreground anchors the scene within the vast winter landscape. Snow softens the terrain and simplifies the forms, allowing the quiet character of the place to emerge. As someone who primarily photographs street and documentary work, where moments unfold quickly and unpredictably, standing in this winter landscape was a very different experience. The stillness of the village and the gentle rhythm of falling snow invited a slower way of seeing — one that simply allows the landscape to reveal itself in its own time. | Serene Teo

“Not all heroes wear capes, some make them” is a photographic project centered on the tailors of Singapore. In a rapidly modernising city, tailoring has quietly become a fading craft, often overlooked and undervalued. Through this series, I hope to draw attention back to these artisans who have spent decades honing their skill. The visual approach focuses on raw, intimate details—the worn textures of an ageing tailoring shop, the quiet stillness of the space, and the lines etched on her face. These elements are not signs of decline, but of experience, resilience, and mastery. Every crease and surface tells a story of time, patience, and dedication to a craft that once held greater prominence. As society shifts toward technology and more “advanced” professions, traditional trades like tailoring risk being forgotten. This project is an attempt to pause, observe, and appreciate the hands that continue to create, repair, and sustain. In doing so, it serves as both a tribute and a gentle call to notice those whose work, though often unseen, has long shaped the fabric of everyday life. | Arthur Liew

G-Book is an ongoing photography project that began in 2016, exploring themes of female identity, body consciousness, and self-perception. Through intimate portraiture and conceptual imagery, the project examines the evolving narratives of womanhood. Most of my long-term projects have delved into themes of female, body consciousness and self-perception, incorporating visual textures such as scars, stretch marks, and skin as symbols of growth and transformation. By using natural light, deep contrasts, and experimental compositions, I aim to challenge conventional beauty standards while emphasizing the poetic essence of imperfection. This photograph is one of the works in the ongoing project G-Book. G-Book - MASTERPIECE, STEP BY STEP, YEAR BY YEAR. From the first line to the final session, she returned, healed, and returned again. Working with a master of traditional Taiwanese tattooing, a simple outline grew into a full-back composition. The piece is not only ink on skin, but a ledger of years—discipline, trust, and craft.
