This photograph was made during a period when I found myself unable to articulate my thoughts around mortality. My friend, who is living with cancer, became a quiet presence through which these feelings surfaced. The dried flowers reference what has already passed — fragility, time, and the inevitability of change. Through this image, I am trying to view death differently: to embrace its presence, and in doing so, to celebrate the life that remains. Often, we do not truly think about death until it touches someone close to us. | Lousycameraman

Hudoq means “spirit mask” in the Dayak language. Originating from the Mahakam Ulu Regency, the ritual is a deep-rooted spiritual and cultural tradition used to invoke blessings from ancestors and gods for prosperous crops and the warding off of pests. The Hudoq Festival is not only a spiritual ritual but also a proud expression of Dayak identity and heritage.
The Last Interred I brought a medium format camera to my grandmother’s funeral to capture the beauty found in the face of death. Rather than a mournful event, we celebrated her life and marked a new chapter in our family’s collective memory. She was the last of us to be interred; the rising cost and difficulty of burial mean that those who follow her will not have the same physical anchor. Without the permanence of a grave, future generations risk becoming only faint memories. In this shift, these photographs are meant to do more than just document. They now act in place of the stone. | Kitty Chirapongse

For this exhibition, the intention is not to glorify illness, extremes, or unhealthy ideals — but to question the contradictions in the way society judges bodies. Thinness is often immediately criticized, pathologized, or condemned, while other visibly unhealthy body standards can be publicly celebrated or protected from criticism. Both can carry serious health implications. This work explores how quickly aesthetics become moralized, and how differently people are treated depending on which body ideal they represent. The photograph is ultimately about presence, vulnerability, beauty, and the freedom to exist beyond simplified social narratives. This image is meant to preserve her presence — not as a statement of perfection or pathology, but as a human being who deserved to be seen with dignity, sensitivity, and depth.
In the crowded streets of Mumbai, the air trembles with chants, drums, and clouds of color during Ganesh Chaturthi. Amid the sea of people, the towering idol of Ganesha rises above the crowd, carried on countless shoulders that move together with devotion and love. For days, Lord Ganesha is welcomed into homes and hearts as a symbol of hope, protection, and new beginnings. But this moment captures the most emotional chapter of the celebration—the farewell. As the idol moves toward the sea for immersion, the joy of celebration blends with the quiet sadness of letting go. The raised hands, the colored smoke, and the intense energy of the crowd reflect something deeper than a festival. They reveal a powerful bond between faith and people. In this moment, thousands of voices chant together, not just to celebrate, but to express gratitude. This photograph freezes a fleeting yet powerful emotion—the instant when devotion becomes both a celebration and a goodbye. A reminder that faith is not only about welcoming the divine, but also about trusting the cycle of return, where every farewell carries the promise of another beginning. | Nishikantsnaps

This work documents the vibrant Vittal Birdev Yatra, also known as the Yellow Festival, celebrated in Pattan Kodoli near Kolhapur, Maharashtra. What drew me to this festival was not just the explosion of turmeric in the air, but the faith behind it. Thousands of devotees gather, chanting and covering everything in yellow as a symbol of devotion, hope, and gratitude for a good agricultural season. At the heart of the festival sits Sri Keloba Rajabau Waghmode, lovingly called the “Old Man,” under a banyan tree. People throw haldi over him and seek his blessings. He is believed to be a messenger of God, someone who predicts rain, farming conditions, and the community’s future. Through my photographs, I wanted to capture more than color I wanted to show belief, tradition, and the emotional connection between people and ritual. One challenge was working in dense turmeric clouds, protecting my gear while staying present in the moment. Going forward, I want to continue documenting such cultural stories that reflect India’s deep rooted heritage and living traditions. | Streetwala

This photograph was taken in South Iceland in 2019 during a road trip to celebrate turning thirty that year. Back then, it didn’t just mark a birthday, but also a personal milestone, one that was of pausing, reflecting, and choosing to step into a new decade with curiosity and courage. This image wasn’t easy to capture. Iceland is known for its powerful winds, and flying a drone against those winds meant that the drone's battery would drain much more quickly. I quickly realised that flying harder was not the way to go, and that I had to think differently. Instead of forcing my way through the wind, I had to allow the wind to work with me. So I landed the drone, hopped into the car with my friends, and drove nearly two kilometres ahead before launching my drone again, allowing the winds to guide me as I surveyed the landscape. By then, a storm was approaching, and I felt a strong sense of urgency, but I knew I had to stay focused and calm. Then this river stood out amongst the smaller streams, carving its way into the distance. In that moment, I knew I had to find the right composition. After capturing the shot, I felt an immense sense of satisfaction and elation. Not just because I succeeded technically, but because the photograph embodied something deeper. It reminded me to adapt instead of resist, and that sometimes, working with the forces around us leads to something far more meaningful. | Nicholas
