Thinness is often immediately criticized, pathologized, or condemned, while other visibly unhealthy body standards can be publicly celebrated or protected from criticism. Both can carry serious health implications. This work explores how quickly aesthetics become moralized, and how differently people are treated depending on which body ideal they represent. The photograph is ultimately about presence, vulnerability, beauty, and the freedom to exist beyond simplified social narratives. This image is meant to preserve her presence — not as a statement of perfection or pathology, but as a human being who deserved to be seen with dignity, sensitivity, and depth.
